##### Allflo Pumps & Equipment was engaged to deliver an **emergency back-up pumping solution** for the reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plant on the island of Nauru, a critical water supply servicing more than **10,000 residents**.

### The Challenge

The RO plant was operating with only one functional supply pump after a failure left the system without redundancy. With the remaining pump showing signs of imminent breakdown, there was a significant risk that the island could be left without access to fresh water.

The project required:

- A **rapidly deployable back-up solution**
- Equipment capable of **handling seawater**
- Reliable performance under time-critical conditions
- Immediate availability to minimise risk to water supply

### The Allflo Solution

Allflo engineered and supplied a **silenced diesel self-priming pumpset**, purpose-built to act as an emergency back-up for the RO plant.

The solution included:

- A **Remko RT-150-SS self-priming pump**, manufactured in **316 stainless steel** for seawater duty
- Capacity to deliver **40 L/s** of seawater to the RO plant
- **400 metres of heavy-duty temporary layflat hose**, supplied by Allflo
- A fully assembled pumpset with pipework and protection ramps

Critically, the selected pumpset was **in stock in Australia**, allowing Allflo to meet the tight delivery timeframe. The complete package was prepared and delivered to Brisbane Airport for urgent air freight to Nauru.

### Outcome

The emergency pumpset was delivered on time, providing a fully operational back-up system should the remaining supply pump fail.

While the existing pump continued operating, the installation of the back-up pumpset significantly reduced the risk of water supply disruption and provided reassurance to both plant operators and residents.

This project highlights Allflo’s capability to deliver **rapid, engineered pumping solutions for critical infrastructure**, where reliability, speed, and performance are essential.
