Industry: Industrial / Processing
Application: Aerated liquid transfer
Focus: Throughput, reliability, and fit-for-purpose pump design
A large processing facility was experiencing throughput limitations with its existing helical rotor pumps. Despite operating within the published performance curves, the pumps were struggling to keep up with required volumes.
The issue was traced to process conditions rather than pump sizing. Hot water introduced upstream was creating steam, significantly increasing the apparent volume of the product and turning it into a foam-like, aerated substance. This change in product behaviour reduced pumping efficiency and disrupted production flow.
With over 20 years of experience working with Allflo, the client turned to the team for a solution grounded in real-world process understanding.
Following detailed discussions with the production team, Allflo engineered a tailored solution using customised progressive cavity pumps designed specifically for aerated product handling.
Two helical rotor pumps were modified to suit the application, incorporating:
These modifications ensured the pumps could reliably handle increased volume and aeration without compromising performance or safety.
The customised pumping solution restored consistent throughput and stabilised the process, allowing the facility to operate within target production rates.
Beyond solving the immediate issue, the tailored design improved serviceability, reduced maintenance effort and delivered long-term operational efficiency — reinforcing the value of engineered pump solutions over off-the-shelf replacements.
